- Requires Costa approval email to Maria Choy and a $10 deposit (note: COH key also works to unlock the gate to the boatyard)

- Mail
- Costa grad students share a couple of mail slots. All others have their own mail slot
- Costa's Fed-Ex internal billing code is "34-1" for FedEx
- FedEx express: use forms found in the cabinet in the 'copy room', daily pickup at front desk, give copy of form to secretary
- US Postal Mail: write "34-265" in place of a postage stamp and place it US Mail Bag near other mailboxes
- Photo-copies
- There is a copy machine in the 'copy room'. You will need to be linked to one of Costa's grants to use it. It also does pdf scans for free!
- Your username is your UCSC email username and your password is the last four digits of your student ID number (or employee ID number)

- Lab work
- The Costa Lab contains controlled substances and radioactive material. Training is required before using either
- No food/beverage (or evidence of these, such as wrappers) in the costa wet-lab… this is VERY important!

- There are several computers in the main lab for general-use
- Metadata for all animal deployments must be entered in the costa lab database (requires a brief tutorial)

- Whenever possible fill up gas tank on campus using the "gas key" in the truck at 'ucsc fleet services
