Island Research

The University of California Natural Reserve System and California State Park system actively encourage research and restoration activities at Ano Nuevo Island. Due to the environmental sensitivities and logistical complexity of conducting work at this site, several permits are necessary.

To conduct research on the island you will need to:

1. Complete a UC Natural Reserve System application: http://rams.ucnrs.org/ (instructions)

2. Obtain permission from the state park

3. Verify that your work will fall under our marine mammal disturbance permit

4. Obtain any other permits necessary for your work

5. Coordinate with existing research projects

6. On the day of your visit, sign in at the kiosk.
